...well perhaps I was just a little curious, I am a cat after all.
I have been studying the chiaroscuro paintings and want to develop my skills in that genre. Beau Bear however just wanted to know why there were suddenly flowers in front of the fireplace.

A farmer down the road sets things up each winter to create this beautiful snow scene. Only successful occasionally as the Michigan winters have changed dramatically in the last 10 years. However we are getting snow today and more forecast over the next week...so I am excited to see what I might capture. Still waiting for the ice covered lighthouse!

Mary's Shell, when visited during our last trip to England in March 2020, the storms had ripped away the coastal sands and the base of the sculpture was exposed for the first time since its installation. The pandemic was just ramping up in the western world and we couldn't imagine it would still be here two years later.

Breathtaking Arches National Park, Photoshop's new enlarge feature allows me to work with images taken long ago in my early digital days and with a much smaller camera. They were decent quality for their time, but "raw" was just getting started and jpg was the norm. This new feature allows you to enlarge even jpgs and keep solid resolution.
The beautifully crafted walls are seen all over England. They are a jigsaw puzzle masterpiece and last for countless decades without any mortar to hold them together.

"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, 'Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'"

On the 10 hour drive to visit my family in Missouri, we have passed this incredible abandon farm visible right next to highway 55 in Illinois. Year after year, I always say what an brilliant photo that would make and we keep driving...10 hours is a tough drive and always anxious just to get to our destination. On Thursday the light was perfect and the farm was more compelling than ever. Mark said let's just get off at the next exit and work our way back to it. On the way we had stumbled on another amazing photo op (more on that later). This however is one of the many views I shot of this farm.

Keystone species are those whose presence and role in an ecosystem is paramount to the point that they have a disproportionate effect on other organisms within the system. Ironically, though they have a lasting effect on the ecosystem, they are the least in count.
Who knew...they all matter!

This darling donkey lives down the road from where we spend our vacation time in Cumbria. I discovered that the family who owns these donkeys has rescued them and given them a "forever home".
Further research led me to a charity that rescues donkeys in the UK, called The Donkey Sanctuary
I am so impressed with what these people and the individuals who provide homes do to care for these animals.

It is our 25th Anniversary today.
Last evening we went to St Joe for a lighthouse shoot hoping to get strong waves crashing on the light or a glorious sunset. It was not to be...however what we did get was kite surfers...and it was amazing. That is the thrill of photography...so often it is the unexpected that is the best. Perhaps that's the thrill of marriage too. Thank you Mark for the best 25 years I could have asked for!

In 1872 with the foundation in place, work began on the brick tower, which slowly grew to a height of roughly 100 feet. Atop the tower, a decagonal lantern room was installed to house a third-order Fresnel lens, manufactured by Sautter & Co. of Paris, France. Brackets supporting the upper section of the lens were connected to a pedestal that revolved atop chariot wheels. Every eleven hours, the keepers had to wind up a ninety-pound weight that was suspended between the tower’s inner and outer walls and powered the revolving mechanism.
